RUSSIA

According to the analysis of the FCS data conducted by Sugar.ru, Russia imported 29.5 thousand tons of white sugar in March 2019. Following the results of 3 months of 2019, imports amounted to 78.8 thousand tons (+ 11.7% by 2018). In January-March 2019, imports of raw sugar amounted to 1.3 thousand tons (+ 0.3% by 2018).

KAZAKHSTAN

By May 9, 2019, sowing of sugar beet in Kazakhstan was performed on an area of 15.9 thousand hectares out of the 22.8 thousand hectares planned (in 2018 - 14.8 thousand hectares out of 21.5 thousand hectares), Sugar.Ru was reported by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to Statkom of Kazakhstan, the wholesale price of white sugar in April 2019 increased by 2.13 % and amounted to 240 Tenge/kg (in 2018 - 189 Tenge/kg, in 2017 - 222 Tenge/kg), or RUR 40.78/kg (at the rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation by the middle of the reporting month).

UKRAINE

By May 10, 2019, the sowing of sugar beet in Ukraine was carried out on an area of 217 thousand hectares or 89% of the forecast, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine reports.

Abundant rains will lead to a decrease in sugar production in Ukraine to 1.1-1.2 million tons, which may cause a commodity shortage, reports Ukrtsukor.

TURKMENISTAN

The President of Turkmenistan signed the Resolution, according to which 17 thousand 900 hectares will be allotted for sugar beet growing in the Balkan and Mary provinces culture, and from which it is planned to receive 224 thousand tons of sugar beet.
