Average consumer price for refined sugar has reached 44.08 rubles for 1 kg in March 2017, which is 1.36 rubles less than a month ago. From the beginning of April 2017 the consumer prices for sugar decreased by 0.6%, according to Rosstat.

According to Sugar.ru price monitoring data for the period from April 13, 2017 to April 20, 2017, the US dollar rate dropped by 1.0% (on Apr 13 - 56.76 rubles/$; on April 20 - 56.18 rubles/$). The ruble Moscow wholesale price for sugar decreased by 0.20 rub./kg (-0.58%), the Krasnodar wholesale price increased by 0.40 rubles / kg (+ 1.23%). The dollar wholesale price for sugar rose by $ 0.002/kg (+0.33%) in Moscow, the wholesale Krasnodar price increased by $ 0.013/kg (+ 2.28%).
The demand remains low. Producers keep high prices before the May holidays; wholesale buyers are in no hurry to take significant volumes, expecting a possible drop in prices. The situation is similar to the New Year's Eve (before the long holidays), when the market was waiting for large-scale purchases, which turned to be significantly below expectations.
The export of Russian sugar continues at an impressive pace. Judging by rail shipments in the first 20 days of April, we can expect that April exports will show a new record of 50-55 thousand tons, closer to a greater value. Slightly less than 80% of the exports were provided by the Prodimex plants. Azerbaijan continues to be the main recipient of Russian exports. Perhaps the large-scale export of sugar is the strategy for which Prodimex keeps sugar till the end of the season, expecting a deficit. However, even with the current volumes of exports, it is not yet necessary to talk about a deficit by the beginning of the new processing season in August.
BELARUS
The production of sugar syrups it is planned to start at the Slutsk sugar factory and at Gorodeysky plant a shop on desugaring molasses is projected, according to Alexander Zabello, chairman of the Belgospischeprom concern.
