RUSSIA

The Russian Ministry of Agriculture in is update as of August 30, 2016 reports, sugar beet was harvested from the area of 83 100 ha, or 7.5% of the crop acreage (in 2015 - 75 500 ha). Bulk volume collected makes 3.6 million tons (in 2015 - 3.1 million tons); the average field yield is 43.02 MT/ha (in 2015 – 40.83 MT/ha).

According to Soyuzrossakhar, Russia has harvested 3.6 million tons of sugar beet (in 2015 – 3.2 million tons) this marketing year (as of August 29, 2016); and has produced 383.0 thousand tons of sugar (in 2015 – 367 000 MT). Gross harvest of sugar beet is expected to reach 44 million MT. In most of sugar beet growing regions, the recent rains and favorable weather conditions help to increase sugar beet yields by an average of 15-20%, though a decline of its quality indicators, including sugar content, is marked.

According to the analysis of the FCS customs declarations, Russia has imported 2500 tons of raw sugar from countries outside the Customs Union in July 2016. By the end of 7 months of raw sugar imports to Russia the volume procured has made 114,600 MT (in 2015 - 222.3 thousand tons; in 2014 - 360.9 thousand tons).

ARMENIA

Armenia has imported 551 tons of sugar and raw sugar (HS code 1701) in July of 2016 for the total value of US$ 358 000; 34 tons of other sugars (HS code 1702) the total value of US$ 37,000; and 287.2 tons of molasses (HS code 1703) the total value of US$ 51,700, the National Statistics Committee says.

UKRAINE

Ukraine has produced 5,010 tons of sugar from the beginning of the season and as of August 30, 2016, according to "Ukrtsukor". Only four sugar refineries, located in Vinnitsa region, are processing beets.
