The Governor of the Kursk region said that options are being considered to preserve the Belsakhar plant (the plant was shut down 2020), including the issue of changing the owner, which is now experiencing financial problems.

Farmers of the Lipetsk region have started harvesting sugar beets, the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture reports. As of August 19, 2021, beets were harvested from 1.3 thousand hectares, 37.5 thousand tons collected. The average yield, similar yields of other crops this year, is lower than last year. Total sugar beet acreage due to be harvested in 2021 season makes 110 thousand hectares. The processing of beets of the new crop is carried out by the Lebedyansky sugar plant. Two other plants in the region, Gryazinsky and Dobrinsky, are scheduled to start processing next week. The remaining three will open a new processing season in September.
