Sugar market news from Russia and EAEU, July 26, 2021

RUSSIA

Rusagro has published its operating results for 2Q of 2021. Compared to the same period in 2020, the income of the sugar segment decreased by 14% to 7.7 billion rubles. In 2Q of 2021 Rusagro reduced sugar sales volumes by 46% compared to the 2 Q of 2020 - up to 160 thousand tons. Average selling price of the entire range of sugar products in B2B and B2C chains (including logistics costs) in Q2 of 2021 amounted to 42.4 RUR/kg excluding VAT. In 2Q of 2021 Rusagro produced 29 thousand tons of sugar. The entire production volume was produced from the extract obtained as a result of molasses de-sugaring. The production of sugar from molasses decreased by 44% compared to the same period last year.

According to Rosstat data processed by Sugar.Ru, 72.4 thousand tons of white beet sugar were produced in June 2021, which is by 38.4% more than in the same period last year, but 49.7% less than in May 2021. For the first half of 2021, sugar produced made 690.0 thousand tons, which is by 28.7% less than in January-June of 2020.

Note: Rosstat also takes into account recycled sugar from previous years in processing.

KYRGYZSTAN

According to the data of the Antimonopoly Committee, in retail chains of Kyrgyzstan throughout the territory of the republic, sugar is sold at 55-56 KGS/kg (48.06-48.93 RUR/kg). The dynamics of market retail prices for granulated sugar shows a decline in prices in July. At the same time, over the year, the price of sugar increased from 42.2 KGS (RUR36.87) per kg to 62 KGS (RUR 54.18) per kg.

EAEU

The EAEU countries have imported 69.1 thousand tons of duty-free sugar from a total volume of 546.8 thousand tons since May 15 within the quota, the Eurasian Sugar Association reports. In particular, the Russian Federation imported 37.5 thousand tons (out of a quota of 350 thousand tons), Armenia - 21 thousand tons (out of 22 thousand tons), Kyrgyzstan - 10 thousand tons of raw sugar and 600 tons of white sugar (of the total quota of 40 thousand tons).
