RUSSIA

There are no grounds to expect a drop in sugar prices, says Peer Eftimov, head of the German seed-growing company Strube Rus. In 2021, the crops of sugar beet in Russia remained practically unchanged compared to the previous season, about 1 million hectares. In addition, late sowing can affect the quantity and quality of the crop; the root crops will not have time to gain the required sugar content. Furthermore, in many regions of the country, the past winter was abnormally warm, which became the reason for the activation of insect pests and pathogenic soil microorganisms.

RUSAGRO Group of Companies has completed the sowing campaign in all regions. Sugar beet acreage sown has increased by 6 thousand hectares (+ 8%) – to make total 90 thousand hectares.

The Russian government does not plan to proliferate the agreements to regulate sunfloRwer oil and sugar price, earlier concluded between manufacturers and retailers, said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko.

Note from Sugar.Ru - in fact, the regulation of prices in the sugar market continues in “manual mode”.

KYRGYZSTAN

The Statcom of the Kyrgyz Republic reports 10,044 hectares sown with sugar beet by May 24, 2021, which is 24.4% more than last year (in 2020, on the same date - 8074 hectares).
