RUSSIA

According to operational data of the FCS, sugar imports from non-CIS countries amounted to 14.0 million US dollars in July 2020. At the same time, the value of sugar imports on an annualized basis (by July 2019) decreased by 31.1%.

As of August 6, 2020, sugar beets were were harvested from 2.2 thousand hectares (Krasnodar Territory), 98.2 thousand tons collected at a yield of 44.64 MT/ha.

BELARUS

By the end of the year, the government of the Republic of Belarus will prepare comprehensive proposals for the development of the national sugar industry, said Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko. He noted that the government will continue to support the sugar industry. Over the past 15-17 years the profound modernization has been carried out; with US$ 250 million invested in the last five years alone.

MOLDOVA

Farmers in Drochia expect a low sugar beet harvest, according to Agriculture Minister Ion Perju. The minister told the farmers that the sugar beet growing will be included in the compensation standard, since the sugar industry in Moldova is strategic commodity for the northern regions.
