Igor Krasnov, the Prosecutor General of Russia, has instructed the regional prosecutors to immediately respond to information about overpricing of socially significant goods in shops.

According to operational data of Soyuzrossahar dated April 14, 2011, 494.7 thousand hectares of sugar beet were sown in Russia (51.1% of the forecast). In 2019, 311.8 thousand ha were sown on this date. According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, by April 14, 2020, sugar beet was sown in Russia on an area of 484.8 thousand ha or 513.2 thousand ha or 50.2% of the forecast area (in 2019 - 334.6 thousand ha).

The draft resolution of the Government of the Russian Federation, permitting export cartel agreements on the sugar market, has been agreed by all interested departments. According to the project, joint export of white sugar or raw beet sugar by producers will be allowed. Moreover, the volume of export of goods under such an agreement should not exceed the allowable volume established by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
UKRAINE
The government of Ukraine introduced state regulation of prices from April 15 to the end of the emergency regime for 20 goods, including sugar.
