RUSSIA
The Tatarstan Arbitration Court will start to study the claim of Zainsky Sugar OJSC on May 25, 2020. The company is trying to appeal the fine and the additional charge of tax for total of RUR 228 538 488 (about US$ 3.1 million at the exchange rate as of April 13, 2020), noting that “the lump-sum collection of additional accrued amounts will significantly complicate the company operation” and “may cause significant damage”.

Sowing of sugar beets is completed in the Stavropol Territory. As of April 10, 2020, sugar beets were sown on an area of 23.0 thousand ha in farms of all categories, thus reaching 100% of the sowing plan (in 2019 – 32.1 thousand ha), the regional ministry of agriculture reports.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, as of April 10, 2020, sugar beets were sown in Russia on an area of 394.4 thousand ha, or 38.1% of the projected acreage (in 2019 - 205.2 thousand ha).
UKRAINE
Sowing of sugar beets in Ukraine was carried out on an area of 117.4 thousand ha by April 9, 2020, whereas the total crop acreage planned for 2020 makes 209 thousand ha, the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine reports.
BELARUS
In 2019 the Slutsk sugar refinery has reduced revenue by 19.35% to 216 million Bel rubles (RUR 6.68 billion). The net profit of the enterprise last year decreased by 23.7% - down to 10 million Bel rubles (RUR 309.39 million).
Gorodeisk Sugar Refinery has reduced revenue by 19.7% - to 197.5 million Bel rubles (RUR 6.11 billion). The net profit of the enterprise amounted to 5.6 million Bel rubles (about RUR 173.26 million) against a loss of 12.7 million Bel rubles (RUR 392.93 million) in 2018.
Zhabinka Sugar Plant has reduced revenue by 19.7% to 134.89 million Bel rubles (RUR 4.17 billion). The net profit of the enterprise amounted to 1.4 million Bel rubles (RUR 43.31 million) against a loss of 16 million Bel rubles (about RUR 495 million) a year earlier.
Skidel Sugar Refinery has reduced revenue by 28.7% to 121.77 million Bel rubles (about RUR 3.76 billion). The loss of the enterprise decreased by 94.5% to 603 thousand Bel rubles (about RUR 18.65 million).
