RUSSIA
According to the operational data of Soyuzrossahar, as of April 7, 2020, 275.5 thousand ha (28.3% of the forecast) of sugar beets were sown in Russia (in 2019 - 176.5 thousand ha), which is 1.5 times higher than the level last year. The sowing of sugar beets was completed by the farms of the Krasnodar and Stavropol regions.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, as of April 7, 2020, sugar beet was sown on an area of 271.3 thousand ha, or 25% of the projected area in Russia (in 2019 - 162.3 thousand ha).
BELARUS
Gorodeisk Sugar Refinery OJSC has published an annual report. The company recorded a net profit of 5.6 million bel. rubles (about 173.26 million rubles) against a net loss of 12.7 million bel. rubles (392.93 million rubles) a year earlier. The plant was unprofitable in 2017-18. Against the background of measures to regulate sugar prices, as well as special gas tariffs, Zhabinka Sugar Plant also turned from losses to profit last year. Skidel Sugar Refinery has remained unprofitable, but reduced the volume of losses.
