RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, as of April 2, 2020, in Russia sowing sugar beet (factory) in certain regions of the Southern, North Caucasian and Central Federal Districts was sown on an area of 195.7 thousand ha or 18% of the forecast area (in 2019 - 65.1 thousand ha).

EAEU

On April 3, 2020, the EEC Council will consider a draft instruction of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on the issue of exemption of white sugar from the CIS free trade regime.

GEORGIA

The Georgian government plans to resume the work of "Agar Sugar". According to Georgian Prime Minister George Gahariya, it is critical to meet domestic demand through local production.

UKRAINE

The rush of food demand, which has been observed over the past two weeks against the backdrop of nationwide quarantine in Ukraine, has declined, according to a representative of the Ministry of Economy. In particular, sugar sales have decreased over the past week (-27%).

The APR Department of the Khmelnitsky region of Ukraine reports that sugar production in the 2020 season is expected to be within 120 thousand tons, provided the average annual yield is 50 MT/ha and sugar yield is 12%.
