According to Sugar.ru price monitoring data for the period from 06.06.2019 to 13.06.2019 the US dollar rate dropped by -0,9% (on 06.06 - RUR 65,12/$, on 13.06 - RUR 64,52/$). Ruble Moscow wholesale price for sugar dropped by 2,40 RUR/kg (-8,05%), Krasnodar wholesale price has not changed from previous 26,00 RUR/kg. US dollar Moscow wholesale price for sugar dropped by $0,033 /kg (-7,21%), Krasnodar wholesale price increased by $0,004 /kg (+1,00%).

After a significant decline of wholesale prices during the last month, the drop has stopped at the level of 25.5-25.7 rubles/kg. The truck standard volume of 20 tons is sold for 26 rubles/kg. Thus, today, on June 13 at 14:30 only 20 tons of white sugar were sold on the NTB stock exchange, despite the fact that prices offered are 26 rubles/kg for 10 tons and 25.70 rubles/kg for lots of 160 tons. Wholesale lots sugars (> 500 tons) are offered even at lower levels –25.50 rub/kg in “off the exchange” market. Two major factors put pressure on the market: apparently, significant remainder of white sugar and the expectation of a good harvest. To risk in such a situation and to buy sugar for the future, hoping for a rise in prices, is not wise and not much desired, so it is possible that we will see a further fall in sugar prices.
In June, the ex-USSR countries should receive a significant volume of raw sugar. The ship is unloading 27,500 tons of raw sugar for Kazakhstan in Novorossiysk, and another vessel with 37,550 tons, of which 20,000 tons have been previously nominated to Kazakhstan is already on the way. In Tuapse, 32,000 tons are unloaded to reach Uzbekistan, with over 100,000 tons nominated as of today. Another 30,000 tons are also expected to arrive in Azerbaijan, despite the fact that 33,000 tons of raw sugar have just been sent there. Another 35,000 tons will be divided between Armenia and Georgia.

According to Sugar.Ru railway monitoring data, for 12 days of June Russia imported 1,400 tons of white sugar (in May only 11.6 thousand tons), which is a direct consequence of the fall in wholesale prices for sugar. Sugar imports from Ukraine and Lithuania remain stable to Kaliningrad, from the beginning of June deliveries amounted to 476 tons (in May, a total of 1,016 tons of Ukrainian sugar were imported). Since the beginning of June, exports amounted to 6.8 thousand tons (almost 20.8 thousand tons in May) almost all to Kazakhstan. The transit of white sugar via the Russian railway amounted to 12.2 thousand tons (in May only 25.3 thousand tons), including 5.5 thousand tons to Azerbaijan (all of Ukraine), and 2.2 each thousand tons to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
KAZAKHSTAN
According to the analysis of data by the Bureau of national statistics of Kazakhstan, conducted by Sugar.Ru, in 4 months (January - April) 2019 the foreign trade with countries outside CU zone is like follows, import of white sugar in solid state (HS code 170199) has made 6.05 thousand MT (84.49% compared to the same period in 2018), export - 1.84 thousand MT (3.90% compared to the same period in 2018). The major volume of refined sugar was imported from Poland (5.4 thousand MT), the rest – from Ukraine. Import of raw sugar (HS code 170114) has made 39.63 thousand MT (34.30% compared to the same period in 2018).
