According to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, in 2018 sugar consumption per capita in Russia exceeded the standard established by the Ministry of Health almost twice - 39.4 kg against 24 kg pre-assigned.

According to Sugar.ru price monitoring data for the period from 21.03.2019 to 28.03.2019 the US dollar rate increased by 0,5% (on 21.03 - RUR 64,28/$, on 28.03 - RUR 64,59/$). Ruble Moscow wholesale price for sugar dropped by 0,50 RUR/kg (-1,40%), Krasnodar wholesale price dropped by 0,70 RUR/kg (-2,08%). US dollar Moscow wholesale price for sugar dropped by $0,010 /kg (-1,80%), Krasnodar wholesale price dropped by $0,014 /kg (-2,68%).
The decline of wholesale sugar prices continued last week. The “official” minimum price levels reached 32.90 rubles per kg, unofficially we are aware of a single offer down to 22.50 rubles / kg for large-scale batches. However, today, on March 28, a number of companies have closed their sales, and remaining ones, taking advantage of the situation, raise prices so the real buyers are trying to get sugar for the price of "an hour ago." It seems both – the sellers and the buyers – have a consensus that the price has reached the bottom and should go up.
Another steamer with raw sugar to Novorossiysk was nominated from Brazil, the supplier is L. DREYFUS. Reminder – there is a steamship with raw sugar of the same company for Kazakhstan receiver, hanging over a month in the seaport of Novorossiysk, and which is not unloaded due to non-payment by the Kazakh side.
According to Sugar.Ru railway monitoring data, for 27 days of March 2019, Russia imported 22.6 thousand tons of white sugar, of which Lithuania supplied 330 tons to Kaliningrad and 940 tons were delivered from Ukraine to Kaliningrad (from Radekhovsky and Chortkovsky sugar plants). Compared to previous months, exports of white sugar increased (11.3 thousand tons against 7 thousand tons in February and 8.8 thousand tons in January). Almost all exports went to Kazakhstan except 181 tons to Kyrgyzstan. Also, the volumes of railway transit increased in March (162 thousand tons in 27 days), deliveries are carried out by Belarus and Ukraine. The main transit flows are the supply of Belarusian sugar to Kazakhstan (5.9 thousand tons) and Ukrainian sugar to Azerbaijan (5.4 thousand tons)
UKRAINE
20 thousand hectares were sown with sugar beet as of March 26, or 10% of the total area. According to forecasts of NASU “Ukrtsukor”, the acreage under sugar beet will be reduced by almost a quarter and will be about 220-230 thousand hectares in current marketing year. First of all, the prices of products and, accordingly, raw materials reached a historical minimum due to the global surplus of sugar in two recent years.
BELARUS
Belarus has set maximum prices for agricultural products for crop production in 2019, purchased under state procurement order. According to the document, the cost of 1 ton of sugar beet is set at Br65 and Br51.9 – for conditional and substandard (1974.375 rubles / 1576.4625 rubles at the current rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation).
KYRGYZSTAN
The Russian company Prodimex has concluded an agreement with the Kyrgyz sugar factories. The essence of the agreement is that Prodimex will enter the market as an investor, and the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund acts as the main financing organization, said the Chairman of the Foundation's Board, Erkin Asrandiev.
