RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, sugar beet was harvested from the area of 96.3 thousand hectares or 8.6% of the sown area as of August 31, 2018, (in 2017 – 121.7 thousand hectares); bulk harvest makes 3.3 million tons (in 2017 – 5.2 million tons), with an average yield of 34.18 MT from hectare (in 2017 – 42.34 MT/ha).

As a result of heat and lack of rain, sugar beet yield in the Rostov region amounts to about 30 MT/hectare, however, compared to last year, sugar content increased significantly up to 18-19%.

EEU

The duty on import of raw sugar to the Customs Union remains at $ 250/MT in September 2018. The average monthly price for raw sugar at the ICE stock exchange was $ 230,58/MT in August 2018, respectively, the import duty in October 2018 will remain at the level $250/MT.

Belarus

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, as of September 1, in Belarus were harvested 1.74 thousand hectares of sugar beet from planned 99.6 thousand hectares. Bulk harvest have made 69.3 thousand tons with an average yield of 39.8 MT/hectare, which is by 4.64 MT/hectare less than in the previous year. The sugar content is 15.8% compared to 14.7% in 2017. Two sugar plants have started processing season on August 31.
