RUSSIA
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, sugar beet was harvested from the area of 65.5 thousand hectares or 5.8% of the sown area as of August 28, 2018, (in 2017 - 80.6 thousand hectares); bulk harvest makes 2.2 million tons (in 2017 – 3.5 million tons), with an average yield of 33.32 MT from hectare (in 2017 – 43.19 MT/ha).

As reported by Soyuzrossahar, total acreage harvested makes 74.9 thousand hectares (6.6% of crop area) as of August 28, 2018. In 2017 on same date total 85.8 thousand hectares were harvested.
UKRAINE
The juice extracting season starts in Vinnitsa region – six sugar factories are expected to operate this year, the regional administration reports. In the production season of 2017 there were 7 sugar factories, which accepted 3 million 64 thousand tons of sugar beet and produced 445,600 tons of sugar.
