RUSSIA
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of May 3, 2018, sugar beet was sown on an area of 623.4 thousand hectares or 56.9% of the forecast (in 2017 - 883.2 thousand hectares).

According to the railway cargo monitoring data by Sugar.Ru, in January-April 2018 Russia imported 82 550 MT of sugar. The largest exporting countries to Russia were Belarus (94.66%) and Lithuania (4.73%). Russian exports amounted to 183,035 MT, the main receivers were Uzbekistan (58.11%) and Kazakhstan (29.66%).
Domestic shipments amounted to 467,505 MT, the largest volume of shipments was dispatched from Cheremovsky (6.24%) and Bekovsky (6.02%) sugar plants. The total transit by rail transit the territory of Russia has made 145,728 MT.
KAZAKHSTAN
As of May 4, 2018, the total acreage planted with sugar beet has made 16.4 thousand hectares (73.6% of the plan - 22.2 thousand hectares), according to the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan.

According to Statkom of Kazakhstan, the wholesale price for white sugar from producers (excluding excises and VAT) increased by 1.9% and amounted to 156597 tenge/ton in April 2018 (or 29432 rubles per ton at the rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation for the middle of the reporting month).
