RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, sugar beets were sown on the area of 199.2 thousand hectares or 18.2% of the forecast as of April 12, 2018 (in 2017 - 354.4 thousand hectares).

According to the analysis of customs declarations of FCS conducted by Sugar.ru, in February 2018 Russia has exported 124.5 thousand tons of molasses. According to the results of 2 months of molasses export campaign, Russia has shipped out 124.5 thousand tons (in 2017 - 52.5 thousand MT; in 2016 - 62.0 thousand MT). In January - February 2018, the main countries importing of molasses from Russia were TURKEY (58.62%) and ITALY (10.18%).

UKRAINE

In the 2017/2018 marketing year, the export of Ukrainian sugar slowed significantly, in 7 months (September 2017 – March 2018) total volume of 338,000 tons of sugar was exported (1.8 times less than in September-March 2016/2017). The largest volumes of Ukrainian sugar were imported by Sri Lanka, Turkey, the CIS countries, the Economic Discussion Club reports. Domestic sugar consumption in September-March is estimated at 0.8 million tons. Considering the sugar reserves at the beginning of the marketing year, the sugar balance is estimated at 1.2 million tons as of 01.04.2018, which is 1.6 times higher than the stocks on the same date last year.

KYRGYZSTAN

According to the analysis of data by the Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, conducted by Sugar.Ru, for March 2018 average consumer sugar prices were 46.87 KGS/kg (+0.13% compared to the previous month, -2.15% YTD and -11.96% by March 2017) or 39.13 rubles/kg at the rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation for the middle of the reporting month.
