RUSSIA
According to Sugar.ru price monitoring data for the period from 01.03.2018 to 14.03.2018 the US dollar rate increased by 1.0% (on 01.03 - RUR 56.37/$; on 14.03 - RUR 56.94/$). Ruble Moscow wholesale price for sugar increased by 2.40 RUR/kg (+8.39%), Krasnodar wholesale price increased by 0.90 RUR/kg (+3.41%). US dollar Moscow wholesale price for sugar increased by $0.037 /kg (+7.30%), Krasnodar wholesale price increased by $0.011 /kg (+2.35%).
Since Monday, March 12, the sugar market has revived with prices going up. By Wednesday wholesale prices for sugar reached 28.5-29.00 rubles/kg basis ewx factories in the central Russia. Rusagro officially has on display RUR 27.60, representatives of the secondary market confirm such sales, but speak about the difficulties when buying such cheap sugar in the volumes desired. A number of manufacturers report lack of unreserved volumes of sugar in the near future, saying sugar is sold for a couple of weeks ahead. There were ideas to start selling sugar from the State Reserve.
According to railway monitoring data by Sugar.Ru in March, exports fell significantly. If in January Russia supplied 86 thousand tons for export, in February - 51 thousand tons, then in 14 days of March - only 7.4 thousand tons. Practically there is no export to Uzbekistan, since the beginning of March (tiny volume of 469 tons shipped from Chishminsky and Dobrinsky factories). At the same time, exports of Belarusian and Ukrainian sugar to Uzbekistan did not grow at all only 5.2 thousand tons in March (in February - 14.8 thousand tons). A reasonable part of this situation is high (or over) supply of sugar to the Uzbek market, added by the supply of Kazakh sugar to Uzbekistan, and to ensure such sales Kazakhstan purchased and processed 30,000 tons of raw sugar for such exports.
In the coming days, the price, judging from all sides, will not decline, however, there will be no growth, and no big sales. Those who wanted to immediately purchase sugar, have already done it. In the medium term, prices will be pushed down from above by a couple of strong drivers: ceased exports and early sowing campaign that requires money, thus a drop of sugar prices is very likely to occur.
