RUSSIA
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, on October 25, 2017, sugar beet in the country was harvested from the area of 958.7 thousand hectares or 81.5% of the crop acreage (in 2016 - 860.9 thousand hectares).

From October 17 to 23, 2017, consumer prices for sugar in Russia decreased by 1.6%, from the beginning of the year (vs. the end of December 2016) - by 16.1%, according to Rosstat.

The first decree of Ksenia Anatolyevna Sobchak as the Russian president will be renaming the sugar industry into sugaring industry.
According to Sugar.ru price monitoring data for the period from 19.10.2017 to 26.10.2017 the US dollar rate increased by 0.6% (on 19.10 - RUR 57.27/$, on 26.10 - RUR 57.61/$). Ruble Moscow wholesale price for sugar dropped by 0.30 RUR/kg (-1.18%), Krasnodar wholesale price dropped by 0.30 RUR/kg (-1.29%). US dollar Moscow wholesale price for sugar dropped by $0.008 /kg (-1.80%), Krasnodar wholesale price dropped by $0.008 /kg (-1.97%).
The past week did not bring anything unexpected. Wholesale prices fell a little, however, but the minimum price for the market is same RUR 23/kg for limited lots. A number of companies refuse to trade at these prices, storing the produced sugar for "fat months".
Expected export of white sugar by rail in October exceeds 25 thousand tons, the bulk of the volume is shared by Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
Russia's attempts to limit the import of raw sugar to Kazakhstan have not lead to any success yet. The general consensus on the issue in Kazakhstan is that Russia is trying to pick up the Kazakh market and dictate prices. The assumption beneath is rather doubtful, considering that Russian sugar producers even in home Russia are not in a position to control the fall in prices below the cost of production.
BELARUS
According to the Association of Sugar Producers "Belsakhar", on October 25, 2017, total 1.9 million tons of sugar beet was processed, of which 251.2 thousand tons of white sugar was manufactured. Daily beet processing capacity of the four national plants exceeds 38 thousand tons.
UKRAINE
The EBRD provided Astarte with a large loan for the construction of energy efficient storage facilities for grain and sugar in the Poltava and Khmelnitsky regions.
