RUSSIA
By August 29, 2017, sugar beet in the country was harvested from an area of 87.7 thousand hectares or 7.3% of the area sown (in 2016 - 79.1 thousand hectares). Collected total 3.8 million tons (in 2016 - 3.4 million tons), with a yield of 42.84 MT/ha (in 2016 – 43.01 MT/ha). Farmers in Karachay-Cherkess Republic and Penza region started harvesting sugar beet of a new crop, the Ministry of Agriculture reports.

The actual sugar export capacity of Russia can reach 380 thousand tons in 2017/2018 agricultural year, believes E. Ivanov (IKAR).

Five plants in the Voronezh region – Elan-Kolenovsky, Olkhovatsky, Liskinsky, Kalacheevsky, Gribanovsky – have started beet processing since August 18; the Ertil factory – from the August 25th. As of August 28, total 211 thousand tons of raw materials were harvested, including 173 thousand tons processed, a volume of 20,000 tons of sugar have already been received, the regional administration reports.
KAZAKHSTAN
Aksu sugar factory, the largest producer of sugar beet in Kazakhstan in the past, will be launched this year. It is expected that in the first year of operation the enterprise will process 100 thousand tons of beets, and in the future, after modernization, increase capacity up to 300-350 thousand tons per season.
UKRAINE
Agroholding "Astarta" started harvesting sugar beet.

Four sugar plants in the Ternopol region - Kazovskiy, Zbarazhsky, Horostkovsky and Chertkovsky – will process sugar beet this season. It is planned to produce 1.3 million tons of sugar beet and about 220,000 tons of sugar.
