RUSSIA

The "Biysk Sugar Factory" (became bankrupt in March last year) was put up for sale. The enterprise is offered as the single lot at an initial cost of 161.3 million rubles. Most of the lot is pledged by Rosselkhozbank

According to Sugar.Ru, Krasnodar sugar plants schedule to start processing sugar beet of a new crop on August 1. Tbilisskaya sugar factory (owned by "Sucden") plans to start up earlier than this date, the final decision will be taken later, depending on a condition of a sugar beet.

GEORGIA

According to the National Statistics Service of Georgia, more than 43,000 tons of sugar was imported from Ukraine to Georgia in 2016.

BELARUS

According to the Federal Customs Service of Belarus, the exports of other sugars (HS code 170199) amounted to 191 000 tons in the 5 months (January-May) of 2017 (in 2016 - 146 000 tons). The main volume of 114 000 tons was delivered to Russia, 18 000 tons went to Kazakhstan and Ukraine. Import of sugar (HS code 1701) in January-May has made 153 456 tons (in 2016 – 152 014 tons). Compared to previous year, export of molasses has decreased significantly down to 8 829 tons (in 2016 – 15 777 tons) whereas import has dramatically increased – 3 500 tons (in 2016 - 22 tons). Along with this, exports of beet pulp increased to reach 4437 tons (in 2016 - 476 tons).
