Bashkiria has started the first chemical treatment of sugar beet crops.

The group of companies "Rusagro" plans to increase its share in the sugar market of the Customs Union from current 15% to 30%, the general director of "Rusagro" reports. At the moment, GC "Rusagro" unites nine sugar factories.

According to the rail cargo monitoring by Sugar.Ru for January-May 2017, Russia has imported 112,148 MT of sugar. The largest exporting countries to Russia were Belarus (96.24%) and Lithuania (3.64%). Russian exports amounted to 181,460 MT, the main recipient countries were Kazakhstan (41.22%) and Azerbaijan (32.87%). Domestic shipments totaled 642,386 MT, Kirsanovsky (Kristall) (6.52%) and Cheremnovsky sugar plants (4.83%) produced the largest volume of shipments. The total sugar transit by rail through the territory of Russia was 57862 MT.

UKRAINE
The European Parliament approved the expansion of trade preferences for Ukraine for several commodities, but sugar was not included. The current Ukrainian annual quota for the supply of sugar to the EU is 20 070 MT. Ukrtsukor believes that this figure should be increased to 200 thousand tons

According to the monitoring data of Sugar.Ru, for 5 months in 2017 Ukraine supplied 11.5 thousand tons of sugar transit Russia (in 2016 - 28.5 thousand tons, in 2015 - 63.3 thousand tons).
