RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, by May 18, 2017 sugar beet was sown on an area of 1148.0 thousand hectares or 101.7% of the forecast (in 2016 - 1.04 million hectares). In the Tula region, the forecasted indicators for sowing sugar beets are exceeded by more than 112%, the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture reports.

UKRAINE

The share of Albacon Ventures Limited, which is wholly owned by Viktor Ivanchik, the general director of the agro-industrial holding Astarta, grew to 36% in the Astarta shareholding.

According to Gosstat, the average price for white sugar from producers was UAH 12972.84 per ton in April 2017 (RUR 28 250.3/MT at the current rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation).

AZERBAIJAN

According to official data for the first quarter of 2017, total 81 628.6 tons of raw sugar and sugar were imported to Azerbaijan (1.9 times growth by 2016) for total value of US$ 37 580 thousand (1.9 times growth). Total 13 441.5 tons of sugar went for export in the reporting the period (decrease by 3.5%) for a total of US$ 8 560.8 thousand (an increase of 1%).

KAZAKHSTAN

According to the StatCom of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the production of sugar and molasses decreased by 51.21% in April 2017 and amounted to 12492 tons (in 2016 – 34 687 tons, in 2015 – 3 454 tons). Total volume of sugar and molasses produced since the beginning of 2017 has made 82 520 tons.
