RUSSIA

According to the Hydrometeorological Center, in most regions of the Volga Federal District frosts are expected on May 16, (night temperature is -5°... 0°), on May 17 in Perm region and in Bashkortostan (down to -6°). Field works in Tatarstan are suspended because of poor weather conditions.

The average consumer price for refined sugar was 43.64 rubles per 1 kg in April 2017, which is 0.44 rubles less than a month ago, reports Rosstat.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, sugar beet was sown on an area of 1,099.0 thousand hectares or 96.7% of the forecast by May 12, 2017 (in 2016 - 989.5 thousand ha).

The Federal Customs Service reports, in March 2017 Russia imported 25.1 thousand MT of white sugar. Following the results of 3 months the Russian import of white sugar amounted to 68.0 thousand MT (in 2016 - 81.2 thousand tons, in 2015 - 90.4 thousand tons). In March 2017, Russia exported 45.3 thousand MT of white sugar. Following the results of 3 months the volume white sugar export of from the Russian Federation has made 105,9 thousand MT (in 2016 - 1,0 thousand MT, in 2015 0,5 0,5 thousand MT).

UKRAINE

Sugar beet was sown at 307 thousand hectares by May 12, or 105% of the forecast (the plan is 293 thousand ha), the Ministry of Agrarian Policy reports.

KYRGYZSTAN

According to the National Statistical Committee, consumer prices for refined sugar increased by 2.2% in April 2017 (by March 2017); from the beginning of 2017 the prices increased by 1.9%, and in annual terms (by April 2016) - decreased by 2% 8%.
