RUSSIA
The Kolpnyansky sugar factory was bought by the Tomsk based company “KDV Group” LLC, which is one of the largest confectionery manufacturers in the country. Previously the factory was owned by the company "Belyy fregat".

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, sugar beet was sown at an area of 645 800 hectares, or 57.2% of the forecast as of April 25, 2017 (in 2016 – 680 900 ha).

UKRAINE
Holding “Astarta-Kyiv”, the largest producer of sugar in Ukraine, has increased the sale of sugar by 115% or 2.15 times in the first quarter of 2017, according to the company's report. Sugar sales increased from 65.69 thousand tons in the first quarter of 2016 to 141.46 thousand tons in the first quarter of 2017, the average consumer price of sugar increased by 11% to UAH 13 420/MT (RUR 28 130/MT).

By April 25 Ukraine has sown 284 thousand hectares with sugar beet or 97% of the forecast (the plan is 293 thousand hectares), reports the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
