UKRAINE

By April 18 the acreage sown with sugar beet has reached 263 thousand hectares or 90% of the forecast (acreage planned for the season – 293 thousand hectares), according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.

AZERBAIJAN

Azerbaijan needs to produce sugar from its own sugar beet, President Ilham Aliyev said. Last year Azerbaijan exported $ 62 million worth of sugar (the fourth place in food exports), the whole volume was made entirely from imported raw sugar.

MOLDOVA

Frosts up to -4°C and snow with rain are expected in Moldova; hence the young sugar beet shoots are under high risk of damage.

KYRGYZSTAN

A volume of $ 10 million is allocated to re-equip the sugar factory "Koshoy" and it is planned to start the plant before the reception of beet, said Prime Minister Sooronbay Zheenbekov. The Government will provide additionally a 20% discount on rail transport costs for sugar beet producers.
