RUSSIA

Rusagro together with Shchelkovo Agrokhim plans to implement an investment project in Ramon district of Voronezh region to create a selection and genetic centre for sugar beet production. The first hybrids can be obtained by 2020.

By April 13, 2017 sugar beet was sown at an area of 407.9 thousand hectares or 36.1% of the forecast (in 2016 - 336.2 thousand hectares). Framers in the Republic of Mordovia have started sowing sugar beets; as of April 13, total 20 hectares were sown, the Ministry of Agriculture reports.

UKRAINE

"Mriya" agroholding plans to increase the area under sugar beet from 3.5 thousand hectares planned in 2017to 10 thousand hectares by 2020. The demand for sugar beets will be ensured by sugar factories which the "Radekhovsky Sugar" LLC purchased from “T-Tsukor”, the company's operational director Andrei Grigorov has explained.

KYRGYZSTAN

According to the National Statistical Committee, the production of sugar in the country amounted to 11,567.2 tons in March 2017 (+ 23.7% compared to February).

Driven by the inability to process the entire sugar beet harvest planned, the sugar plant "Kaindy-Kant" (Chui province of Kyrgyzstan) will purchase sugar beets only from those peasants who bought seeds at the plant, the regional authorities report.
