RUSSIA

The Board of Appeals at the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia has reversed the decision and prescription of Tatarstan regional FAS dated October 21 2016 on the case No05-51/2015, where 32 sugar factories of Russian Federation and "Soyuzrossahar" were found guilty of price fixing and has fined them for total RUR 360 million.

According to the figures by Williams Brasil dated February 14, 2017, total 47 vessels have been nominated to carry 1562550 MT of raw cane sugar in 2016-2017 season from Brazilian seaports to the Black/Baltic seaports with end-receivers in CIS, Georgia and Baltic states. As of today, the volume received and unloaded makes 1387950 MT from 42 vessels, based on Sugar.ru data.

UKRAINE

Ukraine has applied to the WTO with requirement to set up the Expert Group in the framework of the case on supply restrictions for Ukrainian goods transit Russia to third countries.

According to "Ukrtsukor", Radekhiv sugar factory became leader in the production of sugar in 2016/2017 MY with 140.5 thousand tons of sugar manufactured from 908.7 thousand tons of sugar beet. Second place was taken by Kryzhopolsky sugar factory with the 135.9 thousand tons of sugar and the third leader is Gaysinsky sugar factory with 117 thousand tons of sugar produced. From the beginning of the production season the country has manufactured 2.008 million tons of sugar from 13.66 million tons of sugar beet.

KYRGYZSTAN

According to the National statistic committee, in January 2017 sugar production in the country has made 10,701.3 tons (while in January of 2016 the output was mere 5.3 tons). In January 2017 the average consumer price of sugar reached 54.48 Som/kg (or RUR 46.54/kg at CBR mid month average) which is + 1.70% the previous month, + 1.70% from the beginning of the year and –4.97% in January 2016
