RUSSIA

According to the analytical service of Soyuzrossakhar, as of January 30, 2017 Russia has produced 6.0 million tons of sugar out of the sugar beet crop harvested in 2016. This is the largest amount in the history of the domestic sugar industry.

According to the figures by Williams Brasil dated January 31, 2017, total 46 vessels have been nominated to carry 1515950 mt of raw cane sugar in 2016-2017 season from Brazilian seaports to the Black/Baltic seaports with end-receivers in CIS, Georgia and Baltic states. As of today, the volume received and unloaded makes 1294300 mt from 39 vessels, based on Sugar.ru data.

UKRAINE

According to preliminary data of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the acreage of sugar beet has totalled 287.9 thousand ha in 2016 (+21.5% vs. 2015), the production of sugar beet increased and has made 3 879 thousand MT (+ 34.3% vs. 2015). The average yield of sugar beet in 2016 made 48.24 MT/ha against 43.58 MT/ha in 2015. In 2015, the harvest of sugar beet was 10.3 million tons; in 2014 - 15.7 million tons.

ARMENIA

In December 2016 Armenia has imported 320 tons of sugar and raw sugar (HS code 1701) for total $ 208 thousand; 36 tons of other sugars (HS code 1702) valued at $ 33 thousand, the RA Statistical Service reported. Total 2016 imports of sugar and raw sugar in Armenia have made 61,574 tons.

MOLDOVA

Sugar beet harvest has increased by 9.8% to reach 590 thousand tons in 2016, according to Natsstat. The average yield per hectare of sugar beet has increased by 23.6%.

KYRGYZSTAN

The price of sugar in the domestic market of Kyrgyzstan decreased by 5.6% for January-December 2016  according to the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic.
