RUSSIA

According to the annual review issued by the Federal State Statistics Service, Russian population has reduced the annual consumption of sugar by 1 kilogram per capita in the period from 2013 to 2015.

UKRAINE

By January 5, a total volume of 13 880 000 tons of sugar beet (+40% compared with the same date in previous year) was supplied for processing. The industry has produced over 2 million tons of sugar with 3 sugar factories continuing juice extracting, reports Ukrtsukr. This year the country plans to increase the acreage of sugar beet crops.

Wholesale prices of sugar in Ukraine is in the range of UAH 13 100-13 700 per MT (or RUR 29 115-30 449/ton).

KAZAKHSTAN

According to press reports, in the 2016 season Koksu sugar factory in Almaty region has spent over US$ 1.5 million of investment to facilitate sugar beet processing.

According to the statistic committee of the country, the wholesale price of sugar fell by 0.47% in December 2016 and has made 214 tenge/kg (or RUR 39.22/kg at the CBR exchange rate for December 15) compared to 190 tenge / kg in 2015 and 158 tenge/kg in 2014.
 

UZBEKISTAN

Uzbekistan has lifted the ban on the export of several commodities, including sugar.
