RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, wholesale and retail prices for sugar decreased by 1.1% and by 0.7% respectively in the period November 22 - 28, 2016.

It is planned to continue the modernization of the plant "Zainsky sugar" and to grow its daily processing rate from current 7.6 thousand to 8.0 thousand tons of sugar beet, the CEO of the holding "Agrosila" Svetlana Barsukova has told. This will allow the holding company to process 1.2 million tons of sugar beet in 2017 and to increase sugar production to 180 thousand tons. Revenue of sugar segment of the holding is projected to amount to RUR 6.4 billion in 2017.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, on December 2, 2016 sugar beet was collected from the area of 1087.7 thousand ha or 98% of the crop area (in 2015 – 992.5 thousand hectares). Bulk harvest has reached 50.7 million tons (in 2015 - 37.7 million tons) at the average yield of 46.64 MT/ha (in 2015 – 37.96 MT/ha).

UKRAINE

In 2016, the national production of sugar beet is expected to reach 13.2 million tons (an increase of 2.8 million tons compared to 2015) with the average yield of 45.54 MT/ha (much better than 19.6 MT/ha last season), according to Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

"Radekhiv sugar" (part of an international group of companies Pfeifer&Langen) announced its intention to purchase 6 sugar refineries, located in Ternopol region, formerly owned by agro-holding "Mriya". After the bankruptcy of "Mriya" property of plants, which was collateral for loans issued by "Prominvestbank", has become the property of the Bank.

MOLDOVA

According the national statistics committee of Moldova, by October 1, 2016 the average yield of sugar beet was 31.82 MT/ha. In the first 9 months of 2016 the exports of sugar, sugar products and honey amounted to US$ 36.1 million, imports – US$ 17.7 million. The growth of prices for sugar has made 6.5% in January – September 2016.

KAZAKHSTAN

According to railway monitoring data by Sugar.Ru, Kazakhstan has received 65.5 thousand tons of sugar in 11 months of 2016 transit Russia by rail (in 2015 - 178,2 thousand tons). The bulk volume of sugar was delivered from Ukraine (31.75%) and Poland (29.19%).
