RUSSIA

Altai Territory began sugar beet harvesting season. This season the sugar beet is grown at more than 23 thousand ha in the region, up by more than 1 000 ha compared to previous season. By August 20 the "Cheremnovsky sugar factory" has started processing season. The plan was to accept a record volume of 825 000 tons of sugar beets, but this figure may be even higher. The company has promised to accept and process all beet grown in Altai.

Rosselkhoznadzor said that today the measured sucrose content in beet harvest 2016 ranges 12-15.2%.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, sugar beets were harvested from the area of 46 000 ha or 4.1% of crop acreage as of August 19, 2016. The volume collected makes 2.095 mln MT with the average yield of 45.55 MT/ha.

According to the figures by Williams Brasil dated August 23, 2016, total 32 vessels have been nominated to carry 1 093 900 MT of raw cane sugar in 2016 season from Brazilian seaports to the Black/Baltic seaports with end-receivers in CIS, Georgia and Baltic states. As of today, the volume received and unloaded makes 866 150 MT from 25 vessels, based on Sugar.ru data.

UKRAINE

Ukraine has opened the season of sugar beet processing; the first to plant launched is "Ilinetsky sugar factory", according to "Ukrtsukor". As of August 22 the plant has processed 4 100 MT of sugar beet and has received 65 MT of white sugar.

KAZAKHSTAN

According to the EAEC, the country has imported 259 000 MT of sugar and raw sugar in 6 months (January - June) of 2016, which is almost 73% higher than imports during the same period of 2015. The main supplier of raw sugar is Brazil (188,000 MT); of white sugar – Ukraine (15,000 MT) and Azerbaijan (10 000 MT).
