RUSSIA
Prices for sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and sweets have increased in Russia by 0.7% in May 2016 compared to the previous month; whereas in EU such prices have decreased by an average of 0.2%. Compared to December 2015 the Russian prices for sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and sweets have increased by 3.7%, while in Europe the growth was 0.9% (the EU average), according to Rosstat.
TRANSDNIESTRIA / MOLDOVA
In Transdniestria (Pridnestrovie) (unrecognized state bordering Moldova and Ukraine) the state regulation of prices for sugar will be introduced starting from July 4, 2016. The maximum allowed interest rate in wholesale trade is limited to 15% of the purchase price. The maximum allowed interest rate in retail trade is limited to 15% of the wholesale price or to 20% if the entity has delivered goods to the territory of Transdniestriain dependently.
KAZAKHSTAN
According to the Bureau of national statistics of Kazakhstan, for 5 months (January - May) in 2016 exports of sugar-containing products did not represent a significant amount for operations with countries non-members of the CU agreement. White sugar has been exported in the total volume of 118 tons, other sugars – 1 800 tons (83% to Uzbekistan). Import of raw sugar amounted to 113.4 thousand tons (origins are Brazil (90%) and Cuba (10%)), the import of white sugar has made 34.6 thousand tons (47% supplied by Ukraine).
