RUSSIA

Heavy rains in Chechnya have destroyed much of the sugar beet crop, local media reported.

On June 8, Acting Governor of the Ulyanovsk region Sergey Morozov and Yury Khokhlov, general director of LLC "Group of companies "ASB", have signed an investment agreement worth over RUR 24 billion, which comprises various agricultural projects including manufacture of sugar beet and construction of sugar plant with DC capacity on beet of 20 thousand tons.

Consumer prices for sugar have increased by 0.5% in the period from May 31 to June 6, 2016; from the beginning of the year - by 1.6%, according to Rosstat.

According to the monitoring of prices by Sugar.ru in the period from June 02 to June 09, 2016, the US dollar exchange value has decreased by 2.9% against ruble (on June 02 US$ 1=RUR 66.62; on June 9 –US$ 1=RUR 64.68). Moscow wholesale price of sugar decreased by RUR 0.50/kg (-1.09%) while Krasnodar wholesale price of sugar has increased by RUR 0.10 (+0.23%). In Moscow the US dollar equivalent price of sugar rose by US$ 0.012/kg (+1.74%), Krasnodar US$ price increased by US$ 0.021/kg (+3.19%).

 

UKRAINE

According to the State Statistics Service, consumer prices for sugar decreased by 1.2% in the country in May 2016; from the beginning of the year - by 3.9%, while year-on- year (May 2016 to May 2015) difference makes +21.4%.

KAZAKHSTAN

According to railway monitoring data by Sugar.Ru, the transit of white sugar to Kazakhstan has made to 28.6 thousand tons in the first 5 months of 2016 (in 2015- 89.4 thousand tons). The main suppliers of sugar to Kazakhstan are Ukraine and Poland. Moldova - last year leader - is completely absent from suppliers list. Belarus, which has delivered 27% of the total imports of white sugar to Kazakhstan last year, this year occupies a niche of only 2%.
