RUSSIA
According to the Ministry of Agriculture – Russia has sown sugar beet on the area of 989.5 thousand ha by May 11, 2016 or 93.4% of the forecast (in 2015 - 928.6 thousand hectares).

The 25.5% block of shares of JSC "Sugar factory "Svoboda" (Ust-Labinsk) owned by the Krasnodar Territory is included in the privatization program for 2016.

According to the data of price monitoring the period April 28 – May 12 by Sugar.ru in, the US dollar exchange rate grew by 1.7% (on April 28 the rate was US$ 1=RUR 65.16; on May 12 – US$ 1=RUR 66.24). Moscow ruble price of sugar fell by RUR 0.10/kg (-0.24%), Krasnodar price has not changed, remaining at the level of RUR 40.30/kg. Moscow US dollar equivalent price of sugar fell by $ 0.012 / kg (-1.84%), Krasnodar price dropped by $ 0.010/kg (-1.62%), the US dollar prices in other regions declines as well.

According to the Federal Customs Service of Russia, the national import of raw sugar amounted to 38.1 thousand tons in March 2016. In January – March 2016, imports amounted to 181.1 thousand tons (235.3 thousand tons in January - March 2015). Import of white sugar has made 22.3 thousand tons in March and 80.8 thousand tons in January – March 2016, (66.4 thousand tons in January - March 2015).
UKRAINE
In the first quarter of 2016 the consolidated revenue of "Astarta" holding has increased by 24% to make EUR 70 million. Sugar segment has provided 41% of consolidated revenues of the Company or 29 million euros, which is 31% more than in the first quarter last year. Sugar sales increased by 11% reaching total 66 000 tons. Sugar exports amounted to about 17% of total sales and were carried out mainly to the EU countries.
MOLDOVA
According the National Statistics committee of Moldova consumer prices for sugar increased by 1.2%, in April 2016 compared to previous month; from the beginning of the year the growth made 2.5%.
KAZAKHSTAN
Prices for imported sugar have added 3.8% in Kazakhstan in January-March 2016. This figure was sounded to Sugar.Ru by the Agency on Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
