Sugar production in the Russian Federation may reach about 5.65 million tons from sugar beets harvested in 2021, according to the January report of the International Sugar Organization (ISO). According to the document, the sugar beet processing season is over, sugar production reached 5.4 million tons, which is 0.43 million tons more than a year earlier. It is expected that, taking into account the processing of molasses (a by-product of sugar production), a total of about 5.65 million tons of sugar will be produced.

The maximum trade margin of 5% can affect about 60 socially important goods, incl. and sugar, said Viktor Evtukhov, deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Together with this limitation, the government is discussing a recommendation to transport companies to establish "responsible pricing" (and, please, don't ask what it is).
