The Republic of Mordovia has succeeded to collect the highest record sugar beet harvest and produce a historical record volume of refined sugar in the 2019/20 season since the Romodanovsky sugar factory was put into operation. LLC Romodanovosahar processed 940 thousand tons of sugar beets with minimal losses and produced over 151 thousand tons of granulated sugar.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved a new doctrine of food security in Russia, according to which at least 90% of sugar consumed should be produced inside Russia.
