RUSSIA
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, as of October 9, 2019, sugar beets were harvested from an area of 617.9 thousand ha or 54% of the area sown; 27.3 million tons of beet collected (in 2018 - 23.7 million tons) with average yield of 44.23 MT/ha (in 2018 – 35.44 MT/ha).
UKRAINE
By October 10, 2019, a volume of 2.81 million tons of beets was processed and 399.6 thousand tons of sugar produced, Ukrtsukor reports.
BELARUS
By October 11, 2019, sugar beet was harvested from an area of 50.4 thousand hectares or 53.7% of the area sown (in 2018 - 51 thousand hectares), Sugar.Ru was informed in the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Belarus. About 2362.8 thousand MT (in 2018 - 2254.9 thousand MT) of beets were collected, with an average yield of 46.91 MT/ha (in 2018 – 44.18 MT/ha). The sugar content in beet in the republic is 16.59% versus 16.56% for the same date last year.

In September 2019 (by August 2019), consumer prices for granulated sugar in the country decreased by 0.24%, and from the beginning of the year (by December 2018) - by 2.16%. The average consumer price for granulated sugar in June was 1.49 Bel Rub/kg (RUR 46.60/kg at the average rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation for September 2019), according to Statkom.
UZBEKISTAN
Starting from January 1, 2020, imports of white sugar (HS Code 170199) to Uzbekistan will be subject to an excise tax of 20%, according to a presidential decree of October 2. Now the excise tax table does not include commodities from group 1701. In addition, the import of white sugar will be subject to customs duty of 10% of the cost also starting from 2020. The list of commodities subject to customs duties does not contain commodity with the HS Code 170199, but the group 1701 is mentioned with zero duty rate. Additionally, starting from January 1, 2020, the exemption from customs duties on the import of raw sugar will be abolished, the local press writes.
