RUSSIA
Consumer prices for sugar in Russia decreased by 0.5% from January 23 to January 29 2018, and from early January 2018 - by 1.3%, according to Rosstat.

According to Sugar.ru price monitoring data for the period from 25.01.2018 to 01.02.2018 the US dollar rate dropped by -0,4% (on 25.01 - RUR 56,39/$, on 01.02 - RUR 56,18/$). Ruble Moscow wholesale price for sugar increased by 1,60 RUR/kg (+5,82%), Krasnodar wholesale price increased by 0,50 RUR/kg (+1,92%). US dollar Moscow wholesale price for sugar increased by $0,030 /kg (+6,15%), Krasnodar wholesale price increased by $0,011 /kg (+2,39%).
On Thursday, February 1, the growth of wholesale prices for sugar stopped and there is an obvious rebound from the maximum level. The largest companies, "Prodimex" and "Dominant" do not raise prices for the third day in a row, "Rusagro" and a number of smaller companies are mostly off the market, the rest either stopped growth or cut prices. Demand is low. It is difficult to make any forecast for the near future, bear and bull trends counterbalance each other at the time.
According to the railway monitoring data by Sugar.Ru, in January 2018, Russia imported 26,661 MT of sugar. The largest exporting countries to Russia were Belarus (97.60%) and Lithuania (2.40%). Russian exports amounted to 86,338 MT, the main recipient countries of sugar were Uzbekistan (77.45%, 66.7 thousand tons) and Kazakhstan (12.94%). After the New Year holidays, exports are growing again, which cannot but rejoice Russian sugar makers. Leaders of the export were "Prodimex" (37.9 thousand tons) and "Pokrovsky" (11.6 thousand tons).
Domestic inland sugar shipments amounted to 107,138 MT, the largest volume of shipments was made by Cheremovsky (8.08%) and Lebedyansky (7.09%) sugar mills. The total transit by rail through the territory of Russia was 29 666 MT.
The good news is that still no clear signs of raw sugar coming to Uzbekistan, which means that they will continue to buy Russian refined commodity. Two things are bad thought: two vessels with raw sugar are expected to arrive in Novorossiysk and the continuing drop of raws prices at the stock exchange.
UKRAINE
On January 31, at the annual meeting of member countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris, Ukraine received permission to participate fully in international trade with sugar beet seeds, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy informed.
KAZAKHSTAN
The president of the Association of Sugar, Food and Processing Industries of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aizhan Naurzgaliyeva, confirmed that Kazakhstan cannot yet fully meet its sugar needs, but this situation will gradually be solved with the commissioning of the Aksu sugar factory after ten years of downtime and state support for sugar beet production.
