RUSSIA
As of January 17, 2018 the wholesale price of sugar in the Southern Federal District decreased by 1.1% for the week (+0.8 %% since the beginning of this year) and amounted to 25.18 rubles / kg. The price of refined beet sugar from industrial manufacturers (as of January 18) was 25.39 rubles / kg (0.0% per month, -0.4% by December 2017), the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation reports.

Rusagro plans to launch the second molasses desugaring station in autumn 2019. The additional production of sugar can reach 70 thousand tons per year. The station will be built at the Chernyansky sugar plant in Belgorod region. The station's capacity will allow to process 100% of molasses, which is produced at 6 sugar plants of the Company in Belgorod, Kursk and Orel regions. The cost of the project is estimated at 5.7 billion rubles.
UKRAINE
After the introduction of market mechanism by Ukrzaliznytsya (Ukrainian Rail Company) in Ukraine, the cost of rail transportation is expected to grow by 20-25%, the press service of Ukrtsukor informs. On January 19, Ukraine produced 2,042 million tons of sugar and processed 14.22 million tons of sugar beet. Since the beginning of the production season, 46 sugar factories have been operating, of which 3 still continue to manufacture sugar.
KAZAKHSTAN
According to the analysis of the EAEC data for Kazakhstan, conducted by Sugar.Ru, in November 2017 the import of sugar and raw sugar (HS code 1701) amounted to 43.30 thousand tons. Thus the total volume of imports in January-November 2017 has made 417.90 thousand tons for the total value of $ 202.82 million. In 2016 the imports made 423.50 thousand tons. The main volume of imported white sugar came from Russia (116.7 thousand tons) and Belarus (34.6 thousand tons). The largest suppliers of raw sugar to Kazakhstan were Brazil (184.8 thousand tons) and Cuba (58.9 thousand tons). Import of molasses (HS code 1703) amounted to 1.19 thousand tons, reaching total 3.23 thousand tons in January-November 2017 (in 2016 - 5.24 thousand tons).
