RUSSIA
According to Sugar.ru price monitoring data for the period from 11.01.2018 to 18.01.2018 the US dollar rate dropped by -0,5% (on 11.01 - RUR 56,87/$, on 18.01 - RUR 56,59/$). Ruble Moscow wholesale price for sugar dropped by 0,50 RUR/kg (-1,84%), Krasnodar wholesale price increased by 0,50 RUR/kg (+2,02%). US dollar Moscow wholesale price for sugar dropped by $0,006 /kg (-1,26%), Krasnodar wholesale price increased by $0,011 /kg (+2,52%).
A slight increase in wholesale prices for sugar which has started last week continues these days. Large players, Dominant among them, raise the price, which entails a rise in prices at smaller players. This is probably due to a decrease in the forecast of Soyuzrossahar for the production of sugar in the season 2017/18 down by 200 thousand tons, as well as driven by the temporary withdrawal from the market of a number of companies: Concern Pokrovsy, Delos, Orion-Invest, etc.
News unpleasant for the Russian market came from Uzbekistan, where the local government abolished VAT for sugar produced from imported raw sugar. At present, the estimated price per ton of such sugar produced in Uzbekistan will sum up as follows: $ 300 exchange price + $ 40 premium + $ 20 unloading + $ 100 railway tariff + $ 55 processing + $ 15 - financing and insurance = $ 530/MT. Russian sugar is offered at a price of 28 rubles/kg (= $ 500/ton) with delivery to Uzbekistan, but now you still need to add 20% VAT, totaling in $ 600/ton. However, this raw material still needs to be bought and processed, so Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian producers still have at least a month and a half ahead of them to perform significant exports to Uzbekistan.
After a lull at the beginning of the year, Russia exports began to grow again. In 18 days of January already 33 thousand tons of white sugar were exported by rail only, of which 21,000 tons were delivered to Uzbekistan. Import of sugar to Russia by rail has made 15.3 thousand tons in January 1-18.
KAZAKHSTAN
According to the analysis of Statkom of Kazakhstan, conducted by Sugar.Ru, production of sugar and molasses increased over the month by 5.28% in December 2017 and has made 47677.0 tons (in the last month - 45286.0 tons, in December 2016 - 38293.0 tons, in December 2015 - 25195.0 tons). Total 379690 tons of sugar and molasses have been produced in January-December 2017 (in January-December 2016 - 457230 tons).
BELARUS
According to the information of the Association "Belsakhar", on January 13 sugar companies of Belarus completed the processing of sugar beet harvested in 2017. Total 4 698 thousand tons of sugar beet (117% to the volume of the previous season) were processed during the season, over 633 thousand tons of white sugar was produced (107% of the volume of the last year's season). More than 40 thousand tons of syrup was taken into storage by the Slutsk sugar refinery. The actual sucrose content in sugar beet at the time of acceptance was 16.37%, which is 0.82% lower than last year.
