According to the data of price monitoring by Sugar.ru for the period October 06-13, 2016, the US dollar exchange rate increased by 0.2% (on October 06 the rate was US$ 1=RUR 62.46; on October 13 – US$ 1=RUR 62.59). Moscow ruble price of sugar fell by 1.70 RUR/kg (-4,47%), Krasnodar price decreased by 1.60 RUR/kg (-4,26%). US dollar the price of sugar fell by $ 0.028/kg (-4.61%) in Moscow and by $0.027/kg (-4.49%) in Krasnodar.

The collection of a record crop and the lack of bad news have forced the prices to continue the fall, as we expected. Krasnodar sugar producers dropped sale price to 36 RUR/kg, the Central Russia regions – down to 35.5 RUR/kg. However, by the end of the week the price went up again and has added one ruble and even more in a day. This was probably due to the fact that the regional traders ran out of sugar and they shape a high demand for the commodity. At the time of delay of beet harvesting campaign which was slowed by rains, the price dropped to 33.5 RUR/kg, and regions, following the resumption of harvesting operations, were willing to buy sugar at reasonable prices. However, as the time went on, the large sugar producers kept up the price of 36-37 RUR/kg in the regions, so the regional vendors facing lack of sugar were the first to lose nervous patience. The result of it is that the large companies increased price of sugar twice on October 13, together with this they have limited sale volume. In fact, we have a typical "swings", which was triggered by disruptions in sugar beets harvesting.
