The ongoing modernization of the sugar factory "Leningradsky" (owned by "Dominant" company) is estimated at RUR 280 mln and will facilitate processing of up to 10 thousand tons of sugar beet per daily.
According to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture sugar beet was harvested from the area of 801,200 ha (78.9%) by October 22, 2015; total collected 30.4 million tons with the yield of 37.93 tons/ha. The wholesale price of sugar rose by 0.5%, retail - decreased by 0.4% during the week of October 13-19. In January-September 2015 the national production of sugar has reached 2,344,400 tons, which is 1.2% more than the same period in 2014. According to the Russian Union of sugar producers the country has processed 17,574,500 tons of sugar beet and produced 2,572,100 tons of white sugar in a period August – October 19, 2015.
The production volume of local sugar industry has increased by 41.3% compared to previous year in Uzbekistan in January-September 2015, according to local press.
By October 23 the country has harvested sugar beets from an area of 147 thousand hectares (62% of total acreage). Bulk harvest makes 5.8 million tons with the average yield of 39.6 MT/ha. Total volume of beet delivered to storage and processing facilities makes 5.2 million tons, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
In Zhambyl region farmers have started harvesting sugar beets. Total crop area makes 5 360 hectares this year. As of today, the area harvested slightly exceeds 200 hectares. The average yield is in the range 16 – 19 tons from one hectare.
The average purchase price of sugar in Kyrgyzstan is 3250 soms for one ton to provide guaranteed sales in 2015, a spokesman for the plant "Kaindy Cant" has told. According to forecasts for 2015 it is planned to collect 150 thousand tons of sugar beet from the 4 500 hectares. To date the plant has processed over 50 thousand tons of sugar beet.
