Sugar beet was harvested from the area of 25 500 ha (44%) in Tatarstan, the Ministry of Agriculture Tatarstan reported. Bulk harvest has made 874 900 tons of beets with an average yield of 34.3 MT/ha. Tatarstan has produced 48 thousand tons of sugar out of the new crop.
The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation reports that, as of September 24, the progress of sugar beet harvesting is higher than last season by 15% – the volume already collected makes 14.1 million MT (in 2014 – 12.3 million MT).
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Stavropol region, "Stavropolsahar" has received 229,900 tons of sugar beet and has processed 217,500 tons by September 25, 2015. Sucrose content from the beginning of harvesting season makes 14.5% average.
Retail sugar trade turnover of enterprises amounted to UAH 1 091 511 200 in the first half 2015 (which is about RUR 3 392.6 million at the current rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation), the State Statistics Service of Ukraine has reported.
In 2015/16 Marketing year Belarus may lose up one million tons of sugar beet due to a dry summer, predicts Tatur Joseph, the director of experimental research station for sugar beets; though the crop shortfall will be partially offset by the high sucrose content in the raws.
The stocks of sugar in the Republic of Belarus amounted to 10,600 tons by 1 September 2015, which is 77.6% less than it was as of August 1, 2015, according to the National STATCOM.
The lower chamber of the Kazakh Parliament approved in the first reading a draft law on the transfer of agricultural land to private ownership.
