RUSSIA

Russia has processed 532,200 tons of raw sugar and has produced 521,600 tons of sugar this year by June 29, 2015 (5.5% less than in 2014), according to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia. Volumes of raw sugar imports in January-June 2015 (as of 28 June) are 8.1% less than 2014. From June 30 to July 6, the wholesale price of sugar has not changed; the retail one has decreased by 0.3%.

According to the local Agriculture Department of Stavropol Territory, all categories of agriculture enterprises have seeded total 34,300 hectares with sugar beet. Estimated weight of beet root was 155 grams on of June 30.

Exports of Russian sugar industry in 2014/15 (August/July) have slightly decreased. According to forecasts by ICAR, exports for the season will be (vs. previous season): sugar – 4000 tons (-5%); molasses – 402 thousand MT (-30%); granulated beet pulp – 718 MT (-2%). Starting from 2016/17 season Russia may expand sugar exports, as the sugar from the Ukraine and Moldova at dumping prices will withdraw from the Eurasian market.

Agriculture enterprises in Tula region have increased the acreage under grain crops, potatoes and beets this year. Acreage of sugar beet in the region has grown to 8.5 thousand ha this year (+21.4% vs. 2014).

The Investigation Committee of the Russian Federation in the Kursk region opened a criminal case against the director of "Sugar Zolotukhino" LLC. According to investigators, the director of sugar factory has withheld the tax on personal income from the wages of employees in the period from 9 June 2014 to 31 March 2015, but had not transferred these finances to the budget.
