According to Soyuzrossahar, the weight of the sugar beet was 92 g average for Russia as of July 1, 2017, which is 26.4% lower than in the same period in 2016 and by 21.4% in 2015. Such development of crops is associated with the natural and climatic conditions of this season featuring cold rainy weather, and temperature 5-8 °C lower than last year. According to experts, the production of sugar beet in the Russian Federation is likely to decrease from 10 to 20% this year (compared to previous year) depending on the region, as well as the delayed in the beginning of processing season is expected.

According to the Federal Customs Service, Russia imported 13.2 thousand tons of other sugars (HS code 1702) in May 2017. Following the results of 5 months, imports of other sugars in Russia amounted to 53.0 thousand tons (in 2016 MT) - 36.6 thousand tons, in 2015 - 38.9 thousand tons). In May 2017 Russia has exported 1.1 thousand tons of other sugars. Following the results of 5 months, the export of other sugars from Russia amounted to 5.2 thousand tons (in 2016 - 6.6 thousand tons, in 2015 - 4.0 thousand MT)

According to the figures by Williams Brasil dated July 11, 2017, total 13 vessels have been nominated to carry 462110 mt of raw cane sugar in 2017 season from Brazilian seaports to the Black/Baltic seaports with end-receivers in CIS, Georgia and Baltic states. As of today, the volume received and unloaded makes 292410 mt from 8 vessels, based on Sugar.ru data.
KAZAKHSTAN
According to statistic committee of Kazakhstan, the wholesale price of sugar in June 2017 increased by 4.02% and amounted to 233 Tenge/kg or RUR 41.97 per kilo at the rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation as of the middle of the reporting month) and has increased compared to 213 Tenge/kg in 2016 and decreased from 143 Tenge/kg in 2015.
