RUSSIA

In the Ryazan region, as of March 22, was purchased 6.2 thousand sowing units of sugar beet seeds, or 78.5% of the existing need.

According to the Eurasian Economic Commission, exports of sugar and other sugars (HS 1701 and HS 1702) to countries outside the Customs Union amounted to 66.5 thousand tons in January 2016. The main countries for exports of sugar were Belarus and Russia, and the main receiver was Ukraine (1.2 thousand tons). Sugar beet pulp exports has made 34 thousand tons (by 71% more than in2015) in January 2016, including 22 thousand tons in Lithuania and 8 thousand tons in Italy. Imports of sugar (HS 1701) was down by 70% compared to January 2015, and amounted to 51.3 thousand tons, including raw sugar from Brazil (18 thousand tons), Australia (15 thousand tons) and Cuba (10 thousand tons), and white sugar from Azerbaijan (3.2 thousand tons), Poland (2.3 thousand tons) and Czech Republic (1 thousand tons).

The Ministry of agriculture discussed the development of sugar beet seed production. By early April, FANO of Russia has been instructed to develop the concept of the development program of national plant breeding and sugar beet seed production.

According to Rosstat, the Volume of sugar production in Russia has made 27.9 thousand tons in February 2016. Compared to February 2015, the production volume has decreased by 68%. Total from the beginning of 2016 was produced 137.4 thousand tons of sugar (in 2015 - 176.8 thousand tons, in 2014 – 250.3 thousand tons).

 

UKRAINE

The state reserve Agency of Ukraine intends to purchase 2 thousand tons of sugar in the near future.

KAZAKHSTAN

According to the Federal Customs Service of the Kazakhstan, in January 2016, imports of white sugar (HS 170199) from non-member countries of CU amounted to 7.3 thousand tons. The largest suppliers of white sugar in Kazakhstan were Azerbaijan and Brazil (each with 36%). Imports of raw sugar amounted to 2.6 thousand tons - all from Brazil. Exports and imports of the other sugar products, sugar-containing beverages and confectionery was negligible.
