RUSSIA

The head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service Igor Artemyev is sceptical over the prospects of "sugar case" initiated by FAS Tatarstan. According to the official, this assurance is fed the decision of FAS to avoid initiating antitrust investigations against small and medium-sized businesses, having in mind that sugar mills belong to this category.

Sugar factories of Krasnodar Region plan to allocate about RUR 3 billion as an advance payment for the delivery of sugar beet harvest 2016 for further processing, according to the local Agriculture Department. The modernization of technical facilities at Krasnodar sugar mills will attract over RUR 1.5 billion of investments in 2016.

The Board of Directors at the JSC "Valuykisahar" has appointed a new CEO – Mr Dmitry Lisovol, who formerly was in a position of Director General of "Rzhevsky sakharnik" sugar mill.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, sugar beet production in 2016 is projected to amount to 37.8 million tons. As of today total 0.2 thousand tons of sugar beet seeds were imported from abroad.

 

UKRAINE

Sugar beet acreage in Kharkov region will grow by 8,000 hectares to make total 23,200 hectares, according to officials from the regional administration.

According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the national production of sugar (code 10.81 by CTEA-2010 classification index) has dramatically decreased by 41.4% in January 2016 as compared to January 2015.

KAZAKHSTAN

According to the Agency on Statistics, the consumer price of sugar rose by 5.1% in February 2016, and has added 8.5% from the beginning of the year.
