RUSSIA
According to customs declarations of FCS, Russia imported the 3.9 thousand tons of white sugar from countries outside the Customs Union in January 2016. (in 2015 – 3.8 thousand tons, in 2014 – 4.3 thousand tons). In January 2016, the main countries supplying sugar to Russia were Brazil (44.92%) and Poland (41.94%). The largest importers of white sugar in January are "Baltoptprodtorg" Ltd. (31.48%) and "Rostrading" Ltd. (15.45%).

VTB Bank has granted JSC "Zainsky sugar" loans for a total amount of 1.6 billion rubles for a period from 1 to 5 years to finance the purchase of sugar beet for further processing, as well as modernization of the plant.
UKRAINE
Khmelnytsky region of Ukraine will increase sown area of sugar beet by 32% in 2016, compared to 2015 – to 36.3 thousand hectares, reports the regional administration.

Since the beginning of the new marketing year, Romania has become the main direction for Ukrainian sugar exports, accounting for over 45% of all deliveries.
