RUSSIA

According to provisional data by the Federal State Statistics Service, 37.5 million tons of sugar beet was harvested in the Russian Federation in 2015, which is 12% more than in 2014. The agricultural enterprises have collected 33.3 million tons of sugar beet (88.7% of the total harvest), private farms have ensured 4.1 mln tons (10.9%) and about 0.1 million tons of sugar beet (0.4%) was produced by small households.

 
UKRAINE

According to the State Statistics Service, the average price for white sugar by manufacturers has increased by UAH 341.17 and has made UAH 9720.55 per ton in November 2015 (around RUR 29 182.84/MT at the current exchange rate of the Central Bank of Russia).

According to the decision of the Ukrainian government, starting from January 16, 2015 it will be allowed to supply from Ukraine to the Crimea only socially important food products whose total daily value does not exceed UAH 10 000 (about US$ 425 at current exchange rates of the National Bank of Ukraine). The list of allowed food commodities compiled by the Cabinet of Ministers includes sugar.

As of December 1, 2015 the processing plants have received 9,302,000 tons of sugar beet (32% less than in 2014), according to the State Statistics Service. Out of the volume supplied 2.557 million tons of root crops (29% of the total) was purchased directly; 3.858 million MT (41%) received on barter deal for tolling processing; finally, 2.777 million MT of sugar beet (30%) was grown for processing by the sugar factories.
